A little about me

Name: Jake De Carteret
Location: Channel Islands
Camera: Nikon Z6ii

I've always been unable to resist the urge to pick up a camera and take a picture, even as a child, though they mostly consisted of my feet or the sky, cutting off people's heads, and being completely out of focus.

For a long time, I made do with cheap digital cameras. During my GCSEs, my teacher gifted me an old Olympus OM-1, which I still have and use to this day. It was missing screws and needed a clean-up, but I loved it.

From there, I learned to shoot with a Nikon D3200 before finding a Nikon F4 35mm film camera to add to my collection. In recent years, I upgraded to a Nikon Z6 II. This is the best camera I have ever owned, and I absolutely love it and feel privileged to own such a camera.

Growing up on a small island between England and France, I never experienced large cities, sprawling hills, or crowds of people. I think this is why I am now drawn to them.

I have lots of learning to do, but I am glad you're here to share in my experience.
